yurVacations are a time to relax and recharge your batteries. But we all know, there is a storm before the calm…

The dreaded last minute packing!!!!

We all do it, even though we tell ourselves over and over we will be more prepared this time. It can be even more stressful when you are packing not only for yourselves but your babies too!

We are going to help you get that coveted vacation started off right, with less stress and more fun!

A day at the beach

July was a big month for us, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary and we went on our FIRST beach trip as a family!! Before we went, we racked our brains over and over to make sure we had everything and anything we thought was necessary so not only the babies, but ourselves as well had an enjoyable time!

Our first day at the beach we quickly realized we packed all the essentials and then some! In retrospect, we did not need to bring so much! While we were grateful we had what we needed, we could have condensed the list by a decent amount which would have saved us some time and room! Now that we have experienced going to the beach with the babies, we have our narrowed down and focused must-have list so we know for next time.

Being prepared is KEY with anything when it comes to being parents, but especially when going on an adventure 🙂

We want to share with you our essentials list so you can have a less cluttered and stress-free trip to the beach!

1. SUNSCREEN– This is obviously #1 on the list because this is something you do NOT want to forget!!! Babies have such sensitive skin and protecting it is sooo important. Using a good sunscreen made for babies is crucial so they do not get burnt! We used babyganics sunscreen and absolutely loved it!! It rubbed on really nice, easy, and coated their skin well. Definitely would never use anything else for the babes!

2. Hats- Hats, hats, and more hats!!! We got the girls several hats each and brought them all because we wanted to make sure their heads were well protected. It kept their heads covered, faces covered pretty well, and they looked adorable in them. Win/win!!

3. SunglassesSunglasses are a total must for babies at the beach!! It protects their eyes from the UV rays, helps them to be able to see better and not squint.   UV rays are terrible for adult eyes let alone babies.

4. Umbrella/tentwe got an easy to pop up tent for the beach and absolutely loved it!! There was no hassle to put together, which was so nice especially when you have two babies you want to quickly get in the shade. It was big enough that the girls were able to roll around and play with their toys, too, which helped keep them from getting bored!

5. Portable fan These= a HUGE must!!! You never want a baby to overheat, and being at a hot beach that can easily happen. Our girls run hot as it is, and with these fans that could either be placed on the ground or clip onto something kept them nice and cool. Amazing!!

6. Swimmers diapers– We got Huggies little swimmers and loved them! They worked like a charm. Regular diapers aren’t made to hold actual water, they blow up like a balloon! Regular diapers also aren’t allowed in pools because of what the content can do to the filters. We will definitely use this brand always!! Great quality.

7. Toys – Toys are a must for busy babes, it helps keep them entertained! We got waterproof toys so it didn’t matter if they got wet, and they were really easy to wipe off and clean. It kept our girls from wanting to eat other things like sand, (gross), which was also helpful!

8. Extra swim suit/clothes– Such an essential, as blow outs are unpredictable!!! Making sure you have back ups are key, so you don’t have to leave when you’re having a great time and your little one needs a new wardrobe!! Also, changing the baby into fresh, warm, non-wet clothes before leaving is a good idea because then they will not be uncomfortable or cold on their way home.

9. Baby towels– It might seem like a no-brainer, going to the beach, of course you would bring a baby towel…BUT, we initially thought we would share ours which didn’t turn out to be a good idea! Ours were damp, and it wasn’t big enough to cover both ourselves and the babies. Bringing their own was sooo helpful because it wasn’t damp, you could fully wrap them because it was the size of their body AND the little hood added extra sun protection!

10. Stroller– When you are already lugging so many items to the beach, being able to put the baby(ies) in a stroller is so nice. We have the BOB stroller and it worked like a charm on the beach!! It is made for anything, so it rides nice on the sand and doesn’t sink in or get stuck. It was also so nice to be able to put the girls in and clip their fans onto the sides if they needed a nap or if we wanted to go for a walk down the beach!
