Ever feel like you need some words of wisdom? To be uplifted? Reassured you’re doing a great job as a parent?! We feel you!! We have been there, 4,967 times and we.get.it.!
So we decided we were going to round up our five FAVORITE quotes that bring us back down to earth and remind us we are human, we are doing a great job because we are doing the best we can, live in every moment, this too shall pass and WE’VE.GOT.THIS.!
We know these will do the same for you, so check them out below!
“There is no such thing as a perfect parent. So just be a real one.” -Sue Atkins
This is probably one of the top ones we frequently look at and LOVE because it couldn’t be more TRUE. Sometimes we catch ourselves ruminating over something, if we got frustrated or felt so tired, felt like we just needed a small break, did we make the right decision, on and on. But we cannot beat ourselves up and neither can you!!
Being a parent is the hardest most rewarding job ever. Be forgiving and patient with yourself, you’re doing a GREAT.JOB. because you’re doing the best you can.
“If I had my child to raise all over again, I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later. I’d finger-paint more, and point the finger less. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes. I’d take more hikes and fly more kites. I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars. I’d do more hugging and less tugging.“ – Diane Loomans
Talk about putting things into perspective, right?! Some days I get so caught up in the fact that I need to clean the dishes, sweep the carpets, mop the floors, do all the laundry that I don’t stop to just enjoy every little moment of that day with my girls.
I spend more time feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and frustrated I am getting nothing done. This brings me right back to reality and reminds me of what my priorities should be.
All of those tasks will be there…but my babies will only be this size ONCE.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” – Robert Brault
THIS <3. So many times I catch myself worrying about the what ifs or dwelling on the past and wondering how time is moving so quickly that I find myself not living in the NOW and enjoying the present moment with my girls (and Sean, too).
The days we stay in jammies and crawl around in their playroom endlessly, the late night snuggles, the moments of reading Love Monster on repeat, and the silly laundry basket rides around the kitchen…THESE are the little things, guys, that will become the biggest things to us when our kids are grown and no longer little anymore.
“Please, let them be little,
‘Cause they’re only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let ‘em cry, let ‘em giggle,
Let ‘em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.” – Billy Dean
I can’t help but cry when I read this quote because it couldn’t be more true! Our girls are almost one, and we cannot seem to understand how? Lately, all we have been doing is talking about when they were born and how small they were and the endless hours of snuggling and getting to love up these little precious angels!
While they are still little, they are growing like weeds and time sure isn’t slowing down! So when they are extra whiny for a day, or want to snuggle with us in our bed in the morning, we let them and LOVE every moment knowing it certainly won’t be this way forever.
“Today I will be thankful for all the little socks & the grass stained jeans & the endless piles of laundry. For there will come a day when the LAUNDRY basket is empty and these days will be profoundly missed.” –Unknown
Lets be 100% real here, sometimes life feels soooo overwhelming as a parent, let alone as a parent of twins. At the end of the long day, when you are past the point of running on fumes and you’ve reached the point of running on exhaust, no one wants to deal with the 642 pieces of stained clothing. Am I right?
But when I feel that way, I just think of this quote, and yet again remind myself that things won’t be this way forever. One day I will miss these days with everything in me. Won’t you? So I choose to stop, take a breath, collect myself, and find nothing but gratitude for the pile of stained clothes that need spot treated before washing.
These quotes sure do make us feel so much better and we hope they did for you guys, too! Sometimes all you need is a few words of wisdom or encouragement OR a reality check to make you stop and collect yourselves. Not continue to be hard on yourselves, overwhelmed, frustrated, or any other emotion you may feel.
Until next time, guys!! As always, message us with any questions you may have or any other ways we can be helpful to you ALL.
